John A. Bisceglia, Sr. 82, formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 3rd 2015 surrounded by his family. John was born in Worcester, a son of the late Fabbio and Maria (Silvestra) Bisceglia. He attended Commerce High School, leaving before graduation to join the U.S. Navy during the Korean War serving his country proudly. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he returned to Worcester where he met and married his wife of 56 years, Gloria A. Valerio. Together they settled in Worcester where they raised their family. John began providing for his family, as a Barber, owning and operating Vernon Street Barber Shop. He later worked as a Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Worcester, later moving to the Shrewsbury Branch where he retired after 20 years. John is survived by his wife Gloria, a son, John A. Bisceglia, Jr and his wife Rosita; a daughter, Cheryl A. Bisceglia, a sister, Lucy Aquino and brother, Matteo; five grandchildren, Nicole, Ross, Seth, Chelsea and Chandler; Nieces, nephews and extended family members. Two brothers, Leo and Michael Bisceglia and two sisters, Cornelia Paladino and Madeline Ricciardi pre deceased him. Very much a family man, John lived his life for them. He cherished the life he had with Gloria, his children and especially his grandchildren. John enjoyed celebrating holidays, birthdays and special occasions with his family. In his spare time John loved to tend his garden and enjoyed wood refinishing. Graveside memorial services with military honors will be held, Thursday, March 12th at 1pm in the Chapel of St. John Mausoleum, 260 Cambridge Street. There are no calling hours.
