Robert J. Tebeau, of Worcester passed away peacefully in Millbury Health Care Center surrounded by his loving family on February 25, 2015 at the age of 80. Robert was born on May 18, 1934 in Oxford, Massachusetts and was preceded in death by his father Gilbert Tebeau and his mother Blanche Tebeau. He was a graduate of Oxford High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorable discharged in 1962, having attained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Tebeau is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Kathleen E. (O'Connor) Tebeau, his two daughters, Patricia A. Labbe and her husband Leon of Worcester and Sharon M. Battelle and her husband Gary of Worcester; a sister, Rita Faubert of Boylston; three grandchildren, Jessica Kowaleski , Justine Baez, and Robert Battelle, and two great grandchildren Tessa and Mia Baez. Also a niece and three nephews. Robert worked for over 30 years as a machinist for the Rex Chain Belt Company, later Rexnord Company. After his retirement he worked for another ten years in maintenance for the Worcester Police Department. He was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary's Church in Worcester and an active member of Saint Anne's Church in Shrewsbury. Mr. Tebeau was a proud member of the VFW Post 6907 in West Boylston for many years. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, loved to stay home and enjoyed doing yard work; could always be seen in front of his home with his broom in hand. Enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing. Robert's family wishes to thank the amazing doctors, nurses and staff of the Millbury Nursing Home for all the care, compassion and understanding to Robert. They also wish to thank the wonderful caretakers of Hospice Compassionate Care for giving him peace and comfort in his last days. Calling hours for Robert will be held on Saturday , February 28,2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will take place in St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Lung Association, 55 W.
