Benjamin "Uncle Ben" Polselli, 94, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2015, in The Christopher House of Worcester. His loving wife of twenty-nine years, Ruth E. (Pearson) Polselli, predeceased him in 1991. Benjamin is survived by a brother, Louis Polselli, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Phyllis DiBenedetto, Linda Coffey, Donna Kelleher and Joseph A. Sauro, Jr. and their families. He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother, Mary Lavell, Susan Sauro, Teresa Portosa, and Philip Polselli. Benjamin was born in Worcester, son of the late Eleuterio and Philomena (DeSantis) Polselli, and has lived here most of his life. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and had worked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, H.R. Prescott Water Works and the Pullman Standard Rail Car Manufacturer. Benjamin retired in 1986 from Duncan Gillis Company in West Boylston. He enjoyed woodworking and socializing with his "coffee pals" at McDonald's on Lincoln Street. He also enjoyed making toys which brought much joy to many children. He devoted much of his time, love, and energy into his family. Benjamin's family would like to thank all of the "special angels" at Christopher House. Their care, compassion, and comfort were appreciated by Ben and his family. Calling Hours for Benjamin will be held on Thursday, February 26th, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment, beside his wife, will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.
