Helen R. Lamir

Helen R. (Colaizzi) Lamir, 97, of Worcester passed away peacefully Thursday February 19th 2015 with her beloved family gathered by her bedside. Helen was born in Worcester, one of nine children of Italian immigrants Antonio and Mary D. (DiGregorio) Colaizzi. She grew up in Worcester, and graduated from Commerce High School. In 1946, Helen married the man who became the love of her life for the next 45 years, Edward J. Lamir. Together they settled in the Burncoat Neighborhood to raise their family. She has lived in Worcester all of her life. Helen's husband Edward passed away on October 7, 1991. She leaves behind her two devoted sons, Robert J. Lamir and his wife Shelley, Paul E. Lamir and his wife Debra all of Holden; two grandchildren she cherished, Ashley M. and Mark P. Lamir; two sisters, Rita Colaizzi of Worcester and Katherine Nelson of Shrewsbury; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Besides her husband, Helen was pre deceased by two brothers, Alfred and Nicholas Colaizzi; four sisters, Josephine and Jane Colaizzi, Ann Flaherty and Lucy Winbury. Helen worked for a time as an office assistant in the Tax accounting industry. She enjoyed baking, cooking, doting on her grandchildren, the holiday's and special family gatherings. Being in the presence of family made her the happiest in her life. Her funeral service will be held Monday, February 23rd at 12 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Entombment with her husband Edward will follow in St. John's Mausoleum. A period of calling hours will be held from 10:30 am to the time of the service in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Dodge Park Rest Home Activities Fund, 101 Randolph Rd. 01606. The Lamir family would like to thank the Dodge Park Rest Home for all the care, compassion and comfort they gave Helen during a difficult time.
