Charlene A. Duplin, loving and beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and beautiful spirit passed away peacefully on February 9, 2015. She was 59 years young and was surrounded at the end by her adoring family who marveled at her courage, dignity, and shining radiance. Charlene was born on March 1, 1955 in Worcester, Massachusetts and was preceded in death by her father, Philip Eckland. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 18 years, David A. Duplin; her son, Michael J. Flynn of California; her daughter, Julie Flynn-Powell and her wife Laurie Powell of Worcester; her mother, Christine (Giovanucci) Eckland of Sutton; two brothers, Dennis and Mark Eckland both of Worcester; four sisters, Cheryl Trimby of Oxford; Nancy Fiore of Michigan, Diane Van Parys of Florida and Lori McClean of Holden and many nieces and nephews. Charlene graduated from Auburn High School and received her Associates degree in Medical Office Administration from the Salter College. Charlene worked proudly at Worcester OBGYN/Reliant OBGYN for 30 years as a Medical Secretary. She will be remembered as a loving and caring woman who always put the needs of others before her own. She loved to dance, sing karaoke, shop for bargains, ride carousels, and always lit up the room with her effervescent personality. She was concerned about everyone from the neighbors to making sure the wild birds were fed. She truly left a mark on everyone's heart and will forever be missed and loved. Family, friends, and others whose lives Charlene touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015. Charlene Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day at 10:00 a.m. at Saint John Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Please go directly to church. Inurnment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. Due to Julie's allergies, please come fragrance free to both the visitation and Funeral Mass.
