Ruth A Hillman

Ruth A. (Lorent) Hillman, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully home to the lord Friday, February 6th 2015 after 78 years of life. Ruth was born June 29th 1936 in Koln, Germany, the only child of German parents. She grew up and lived in Germany until 1962, when she met and married a U.S. Air Force soldier. They married and moved to Portsmouth, NH where they began to raise their family. Ruth moved to Worcester in 1985 and to the Shrewsbury Towers in late 90's. She took an active role in the Shrewsbury Towers Association life. Ruth was a very friendly, helpful person and the longest continuous resident of Shrewsbury Towers. Ruth was available to assist anyone who needed it or asked for it. Whether it was running errands, working bingo, or helping residents in their apartments; she would never say no. Ruth also worked as a sales associate for Levitz Furniture in Westborough, MA for several years before retiring. She is survived by the family she loved so much; her four children, William T. Hillman of Kissimmee Florida, Barbara M. Lewis in Detroit, Lance Hillman of Orlando Florida, and Andrea H. Griggs of Shrewsbury; her twelve cherished grandchildren; Brandy, Brittney, Justin, Ashley, Alex, Loren, Jessica, Lancia, Justin, Jacob, Dezarae and Alicia; her great grandsons, Israel and Joshua; her best friend and cat, Chanel; extended family members and friends. Her longtime companion and friend Doug Pasaretti pre-deceased her. Ruth was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Shrewsbury. She enjoyed needle work, cooking, the beach, shopping and most of all the residents in the Shrewsbury Towers. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, February 13th from 10 am to 12 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Shrewsbury Towers Activities Fund, 36 North Quinsigamond Ave, Shrewsbury or the MSPCA Angel West, 293 2nd Avenue, Waltham, MA.
