Armando M. Marchese, 71 of Worcester passed away peacefully Monday, February 2nd 2015 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Armando was born in Acri, province of Cosenza Italy, one of six children of Francesco and Bombina (Altomare) Marchese. At the age of 20, Armando immigrated to the United States where he met, dated and married the Love of his Life for the next 49 years, Diana Y. Fortin. Together they enjoyed life together in love and happiness raising their three daughters, nine grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In 2004, Armando and Diana's daughter Sheila Marchese passed away. A brother Antonio passed away in 2014 and another two brothers, Natale and Vincenzo and two sisters, Rosina "Rose" Conte and Assunta Marchese also predeceased him. Armando worked to support his family beginning with Stanley & Morgan Company as a welder for 9 years before accepting a position with Montrose Wire & Cable Company as a machinist where he remained for over 8 years before retiring. Armando also worked as a mason/ laborer part-time for his brother Anthony "Tony' Marchese. Armando is survived by his devoted wife Diana; his two daughters Tina M. Genese and her husband Brian with whom they lived and Maria R. Marchese; two sisters, Maria O'Connor and her husband Michael of West Boylston and Ortenza Viterritti of Parma, Italy; nine grandchildren, Alyssa Genese, Camry Etre, Christopher and Michael Wimmer, Matthew and Jaelyn K. Malmquist; five great grandchildren, Silas, Mya, Claudia and Matheus Armando; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both here and in Italy. Armando lived life to the fullest. A traditional man of Italian heritage, he devoted his life to his family and their wellbeing. He loved the traditional holidays and celebrations having his entire family around. He loved the occasional visits to Italy, his garden, soccer, and his yard. He was a man who could fix most things and enjoyed helping anyone who asked; whether it be carpentry work, welding something, fixing, or reconditioning cars. He will be sorely missed. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Armando's family, Friday, February 6th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be celebrated Saturday, February 7th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
