Anthony C. Quatela, Sr. of Worcester , passed away peacefully Saturday, January 31st 2015 surrounded by his devoted family. Tony was born in Worcester, one of six children of Italian immigrants Louis and Mary (Pellegrini) Quatela. Anthony grew up in Worcester, graduated from Commerce High, and joined the U.S. Army during World War II serving his country proudly as part of the Italian campaign and D-Day invasion. Tony returned home, he met dated and married, Teresa R. (Zicaro) Quatela in 1948. Together they settled in the family home off Shrewsbury Street and lived there in love and happiness raising their sons for the next 55 years before Teresa passed away in 2003. He continued to live in his home until recently. Anthony worked all his life for one company The Norton Company as an inspector for more than 35 years before retiring. Tony is survived by his two sons, Louis A. Quatela and his wife Paula, Anthony C Quatela, Jr. and his wife Doreen all of Worcester; The grandchildren he adored, David Quatela and his wife Kellianne, Jennifer DiPadua, Tara and Anthony Quatela III; four great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Dominic, Arianna and Dillon; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his wife Teresa, a son David Quatela, brother, Charles Quatela and four sisters, Bella Nolli, Raffaela Johnson, Italia Gallo and Grace Camosse all pre deceased him. Tony was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann Parish, the Columbus Civic Association and the Eastside Post 201 American Legion. A man of Italian decent, Anthony found his greatest joy with his wife, children and grandchildren. Their company and presence was something he cherished and held precious. He loved his house, his garden and tending to its care. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours Thursday, February 5th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St followed by a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Entombment next to his wife will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Eastside Post 201 American Legion, 326 Plantation St Worcester 01604.
