Grace G. (Tomasello) Drake, 89 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Shrewsbury Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Grace's husband of sixty-six years, David L. Drake, Sr. passed away on September 24, 2010. She is survived by two sons, Steven A. Drake and Dennis M. Drake and his wife Sheila all of Worcester; seven grandchildren, Douglas Haddad and his wife Susan of East Brookfield, Tina Bouvier-Padavano and her husband David, Dennis M. Drake, Jr. all of Spencer, Jonathan Haddad and his wife Caroline of Hopkinton, Tracy Carbone and her husband Peter of Oakham, Toni Berthiaume and her husband Jeffrey of Spencer, and William Drake of Worcester; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, David L. Drake, Jr., who was killed during Vietnam War on March 20, 1966; her step-daughter, Mary Ellen Wilson; a brother, Dominic Tomasello; a grandson, Michael Drake. Grace was born in Barre, Massachusetts, the daughter of Italian immigrants, Nunzio and Stefana (Tomasello) Tomasello. She graduated from Barre High School, class of 1943 where she was class valedictorian. Grace was a seamstress for David Clark for ten years, retiring in 1975. She previously worked for Sawyer Company and CK Smith for many years. Grace was a member of the former St. Margaret Mary's Church where she was a lector, in the church choir and also helped during Sunday mass. She was also a member of the Gold Star Mothers of Massachusetts where she served as there president and Catholic Daughters. Grace enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino especially Foxwoods, and an occasional trip to Atlantic City., camping and vacationing with her husband; she was an avid knitter, crocheted and did needle point work. Grace knitted and crocheted many things, sent and collected them to give to Veterans. Services for Grace will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester. Burial next to her husband and son will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 5-7 pm in the funeral home.
