Eileen P. (Barry) Barbieri, 64 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Brigham and Women's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Eileen is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Richard R. Barbieri; two sons, Jamie Barbieri of Holden and Bryan Barbieri of Boston; her daughter, Tara Letourneau and her husband Kevin of Worcester; her mother, Lena D. (Cimato) Barry of Worcester; four sisters, Ann Marie Gribbons and her husband Thomas of Worcester, Jeanne Barton and her husband Robert of West Boylston, Patricia Riggieri and her husband Robert, and Kathleen Hacker and her husband Roger, all of Worcester; two beloved grandchildren, Alyssa and Joseph Letourneau both of Worcester; many nieces, nephews and friends. Eileen was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late James E. Barry and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Saint Stephens High School. Eileen received her bachelor's degree in education from Worcester State College and later received her master's degree from Lesley University. Eileen was a devoted teacher at Clark Street School for thirty years, retiring in 2013, and was very passionate about her work that touched so many young lives. She was a member of Saint John's Church. Eileen loved to write, and often poured her warmth and kindness into collections of poetry and imaginative children's stories. She loved the beach, especially when vacationing to her home on Cape Cod. Eileen was a great cook who enjoyed hosting many holidays and family gatherings, as well as a great baker and talented cake decorator. Eileen loved the Boston Celtics and was a wonderful guitar player. Over the years, she and her family opened their home to embrace numerous exchange students, building friendships through bonds of love and laughter. Services for Eileen will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with her Mass at 11 a.m. in Saint John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 28th from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.
