Marie M. Callahan, 85, of Millbury died peacefully Tuesday January 20, 2015 in the Millbury Healthcare Center surrounded by her loved ones. Marie Is survived by her beloved friend of 47 years Carol Ann Gigliotti with whom she lived, A brother James Callahan Jr. of Pennsylvania, and a sister Patricia Early of Worcester.Her nieces and nephews; Shannon Impagliazzo, Bebhinn Daly, James, Kevin and Brian Callahan, and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Bernard Callahan, and her step Mother Mary Gleason. Marie was born in Worcester daughter of the late James and Mary (Denning) Callahan and was a graduate of North High School and the College of the Holy Cross. Marie worked for the G. E. Telecron Company for several years and was the Vice President of their Union. After leaving the Telecron Company Marie became the owner and administrator of the Newton Manor Rest Home for many years before she retired. Marie also ran the "Busy Bee" Bar in Spencer for several years. She attended St. Johns Church. Among her interests Marie was a Basketball Coach for several area leagues, and she also enjoyed playing softball, and speed skating. Marie loved to play cards with her family and friends, and a good day at the Casino! She had a great passion for the treatment of all animals. Marie will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Marie's funeral will be held on Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in the Church of St. John 40 Temple St. A calling hour in the funeral home will be from 9:30AM to 10:30AM prior to leaving for Church.
