Bernard Michael "Mike" Wright, 71, of Worcester passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Monday, January 12th 2015. Mike was born in Worcester, the son of Bernard T. and Catherine (Shropshire) Wright. He graduated from Commerce High School where he was a standout all City swimmer. Mike then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country proudly during the early years of Vietnam. He returned home and accepted a position with the Norton Company, now St Gobain where he worked in the ceramics division for over 44 years before retiring in 2008. Mike is survived by a stepdaughter Robin Wright of Webster; a sister and best friend Diane Wright of Worcester; Cousins and extended family members including Dawn Hutchings, Louis "Trey" Shropshire III, Robin and Doreen Shropshire, and godson, Evan Jones. Mike was an active member of St Peter's church, attending Mass as often as he could always choosing a seat in the front row. He was known for pointing at his watch to remind the monsignor if the sermon went into overtime. He was a founding member and 25 year Quartermaster of the VFW Post 312 in Worcester. He loved Horse racing attending Saratoga in the summer, SyFy Movies, early evening Television and especially his weekly Wednesday night dinner and movie with his sister. Calling hours will be held Tuesday January 20th from 10:30 to 12 noon with the funeral immediately following at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St Worcester. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery
