Angelina "Eileen" DiPinto

Angelina "Eileen" (Monopoli) DiPinto, 84, over 70 year resident of Shrewsbury passed away with her devoted husband and family gathered by her side after a long illness. Eileen a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother was born in Worcester to Italian immigrant parents Mauro and Helen (DiBenedetto) Monopoli. She grew up on Shrewsbury Street before moving to Shrewsbury and graduated from Beal High. In 1951, Eileen married the man who would become the love of her life and beloved husband for the next 64 years, Leonard DiPinto. They settled in the DiPinto home in Shrewsbury to raise their family and have lived there ever since. She worked more than 10 years for Spag's Supply as a Clerk before retiring and prior to that for the Hebert Candy Mansion. She was a member of St Anne's Parish Eileen is survived by her husband Leo, four cherished sons, and their wives whom she considered daughters: Frank A. DiPinto and his wife Marylee, Mauro R. DiPinto and his wife Jean all of Shrewsbury, Leonard "Len" DiPinto Jr. and his wife Kathleen and Carl E. DiPinto and his wife Cynthia all of Grafton; 10 grandchildren she adored and who adored her; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Anthony Monopoli; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by a brother Peter. A true wife and mother of Italian heritage, family was her committed life and inspiration. The happiest moments were those spent with her family at the weekly Sunday dinners at mom's, the annual Christmas Eve feast, and the other special moments when they could all be together. Eileen was an accomplished artist who loved to paint. Many pieces of her artwork hang in family homes. She loved to travel, dress exquisitely, and was always perfectly attired when she went out. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, January 9th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Saturday from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 128 Providence Street #5, Worcester, MA 01604.
