Nereida Faya Alvarez

Nereida (Faya) Alvarez,85,of Worcester died peacefully December 25, 2014 Christmas Day in the Christopher House surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Avilio W. Alvarez. Nereida is survived by her loving children; a son Jorge L. Alvarez, two daughters Elvira M. Pazos, and Susana Fernandez and her husband Alfredo. Nereida also leaves seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers Fidel, Roberto, and Ruben Faya. Nereida was born in Matanzas, Cuba daughter of the late Secundino and Elvira (Bonet) Faya and came to the United States in 1968. She settled in Worcester shortly thereafter. Nereida worked as a Seamstress for many years at several Worcester companies before she retired. She was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. Nereida loved to cook,and be with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Te amamos Mama'. Nereida's funeral will be held on Monday December 29, at 12:30 in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours are private. Inurnment will be in St. Johns Cemetery Mausoleum. Donations may be made to The Renovation Fund of the Church or Our Lady of Mt.
