Manuel A. "Manny" Pacheco, Jr., 78, of Sterling, passed away into the arms of his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 8, 2014. Manny or Juney, as he was known, is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Marguerite L. (Gaucher) Pacheco; their children, Robert C. Pacheco, Paul M. Pacheco, LeeAnne E. Prendiville and her husband David, Linda M. Kimball and her husband Mark, Lisa L. Pacheco and her partner Kenneth Boucher, all of Sterling, and Laurie Pacheco and her husband Victor M. Moniz of Leominster. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Angela M. Pacheco, Brittany A. Prendiville, David P. Prendiville, Jr., Steven P. Dufault, and Lauren M. Kimball; his sister, Mary Ferraro and her husband Joe of Worcester; three sisters in law, Gloria Pacheco and Darlene Pacheco both of Shrewsbury, and Jeannine Benson of Worcester; a brother in law, Ronald Gaucher of Boylston; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Manny was predeceased by a grandson, Michael J. Kimball, and by two brothers, Anthony and George Pacheco. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Manuel and Philomena (Baldino) Pacheco. He graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade, and later served in the National Guard. He lived in Worcester for many years, before setting his own roots in Sterling in 1973. Manny was a Master Licensed Plumbing Contractor, he owned and operated Sterling Plumbing and Heating and Midstate Plumbing and Heating, for many years, before retiring in 2007. Manny had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned and operated Essex Thermo Corp and he designed, developed and held a patent for a fixture as part of his latest venture, Hydro Kleen, LLC. He was Past President of the Massachusetts Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association, and he served for many years as the Plumbing and Gas Inspector for the Town of Sterling. Manny loved his horses and horseback riding. Many town residents would remember his as the "singing cowboy" as he would sing, with the beautiful voice he had, while riding throughout the Town of Sterling. He was a member of The Gentlemen Songsters, the Order of Sons of Italy, UNICO International, The Sterling Chocksett Club, and he was a member and Chaplain of Eastside Post 201 in Worcester and the American Legion Post 189 in Sterling. Calling hours for Mr. Pacheco will be held on Friday, December 12, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Saturday morning, December 12, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling.
