Mary Victoria (Scarafoni) Palumbo, 93, of Worcester passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family Friday, December 5th 2014. Mary was born in Worcester, September 15, 1921, one of three daughters of Joseph and Tomasina Scarafoni. She grew up in Worcester graduated from Commerce High School and has lived here all her life. Mary worked for the City of Worcester as administrative assistant for the Worcester Public Library over 30 years before retiring. She is survived by the "Love of her Life" and husband of 66 years, Lawrence R. Palumbo; Her son and daughter in law, Vincent and Kathleen Palumbo of Worcester; four grandchildren, Ann Marie (Pelletier) and her husband Jeffrey Dumas, Jennifer Pelletier and her husband Daniel Correia, Elizabeth and Nicholas Palumbo. Mary also leaves her great grandchildren Sara and Steven Dumas, Kaitlyn and Amy Correia; nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A daughter, Marilyn T. Pelletier and two sisters, Frances Orrico and Theresa Scarafoni all pre deceased her. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angel's Church, and the former St Charles Borromeo Church. Mary enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, reading and having her entire family around during holidays and special occasions were what made her smile. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours Tuesday, December 9th from 9 am to 10:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St before proceeding in procession to Our Lady of the Angel's Church, 1222 Main St. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial donations be made to the Worcester Public Library for children's books, 3 Salem Street Worcester 01608.
