Angelo J. Rucci, of Worcester, formerly of Duncannon Ave passed away peacefully Saturday, December 6th 2014. He was 89. Angelo, one of eleven children of Italian immigrants Domenico and Josephine (Tatolo) Rucci was born and educated in Worcester. Like many men from Worcester, Angelo joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country proudly in the Pacific and Philippines, during World War II. Upon returning to Worcester, Angelo married Mary Louise Santa Maria and together began their family living happily until Mary Louise passed away in October of 1988. Angelo worked as a baker for the Table Talk Company for over 25 years before retiring. He previously worked as a shoemaker for his own store. Angelo is survived by his devoted two children; Joseph P. Rucci of Worcester and Nancy M. Rucci in Tennessee; a grandson he dearly loved and whom loved him Kevin Purcell and his wife Carrie of Holden; three great grandchildren, Brady, and twin girls, Ella and Sophia; Many nieces nephews, and extended family members. Angelo also leaves behind four sisters, Teresa Atkins, Grace Rucci, Mary Clemente and Frances Deras; six brothers, Domonic, Anthony, Christino, Daniel, George and Mario Rucci pre deceased him. Angelo was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and the Bakery, confectionary, tobacco and grain millers' international union. He enjoyed Western movies; New England sports especially the Bruins, horse racing and family. At one time, he volunteered at the former St Charles Borromeo Church. A member of a large Italian family, Angelo found his greatest joy and moments when family was together during special moments and holidays. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Wednesday, December 10th 2014 from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Thursday December 11th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial with Military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery.
