Florence H. Salamy, 78, of Worcester passed away peacefully Thursday, December 4th after a period of declining health. Florence was born in Fall River, a daughter of Richard and Margaret (Salloum) Salamy. As a young child, Florence moved to Worcester with her family and has lived here ever since. Florence is survived by her brother, Norman Salamy and his wife Shirley of Shrewsbury; nieces and nephews including Michael Salloum and his wife Lee Hume, Gary Salloum, Cheryl Akerson and her husband Mark, Robert Salamy and his wife Patricia, and Andrew Salamy and his wife Patricia. She also leaves six grandnieces and grandnephews, other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Irene Salloum and Ruth Salamy. Florence graduated from Commerce High School and worked for the State of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health for many years before retiring. She was a proud member of Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, and a former member of its choir. Florence's happiest moments were found with her family. Her niece and nephews fondly recall the love and attention she gave them in their youth. Family holidays and special events were the moments she treasured. Florence's funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 9th at 10:00 am in Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street. Burial to follow in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
