Edward J. Bantz, 67, of Rutland, formerly of Worcester, passed away suddenly at home after being stricken ill in his sleep Monday, November 24th 2014. Edward was born in Staten Island, New York, the son of the late Marguerite (Patterson) Bantz. He grew up and graduated from High School on Staten Island. While on vacation in Florida, Edward met and in 1978 married the love of his life and devoted wife Barbara Beando. Together they settled in Worcester where they lived happily until moving to Rutland in 2003. Edward was a licensed Plumber and Pipefitter working for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union before accepting a position with Wyman- Gordon Company in Grafton where he has worked since. Edward is survived by his wife Barbara; and his father Davis Bantz and his wife Eileen of Strasburg PA. Other family members include his sister and brother in law, Susan and Fidoro Scalercio of East Strasburg, PA; Brother and sister in laws, Anthony and Deborah Beando Jr. of Worcester and cousins Carl and Jeanne Bahm in New Jersey; nieces, nephews and extended family members. A brother in law, James "Jim" Beando and nephew Dale Beando pre deceased him. Growing up in New York, Edward was a huge New York area sports fan including the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He loved to Golf, Play cards, horse racing and especially traveling with his wife Barbara to Maine all year long. He was a member of the AFL-CIO Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Saturday November 29th 2014 from 9 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. followed by a prayer service at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow in St John Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a Charity of the donor's choice.
