Antoinette (Caracciolo) Giroux, 96 formerly of Shrewsbury a resident of Nashua NH and Delray Beach Florida, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, November 19th 2014 with her family by her side. Antoinette was born in Worcester, one of eight children of Italian immigrants Felix and Jenny (Vacca) Caracciolo. She grew up in Worcester, and graduated from Commerce High School. In 1942, Antoinette married the man who became the love of her life and husband for the next 64 years George C. Giroux, Sr. until 2006 when George passed away. Together they settled in Worcester to raise their family moving to Shrewsbury in 1955. They lived in Shrewsbury happily there for over 32 years actively involved in their church Saint Mary's, its Women's Guild and Children of Mary Society. In 1987, they retired to Delray Beach Florida and lived there until she moved to Nashua NH with her son. Antoinette worked for the Novelty Pants Company in Worcester and the former Bee Plastics in Shrewsbury. Antoinette is survived by her son, George C Giroux, Jr. with whom she lived; her grandsons Christopher M., and Sean D. Giroux; their beloved dog Dolby; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Four brothers, John, Vincent, Rocco and Robert Caracciolo as well as sisters, Mary Reynolds, Clara DiStefano and Josephine Ryan pre deceased her. A devoted catholic Antoinette attended church whenever she could whether it was St Mary's in Shrewsbury; Our Lady Queen of Peace in Delray Beach or Neumann Catholic Community Church in Merrimack NH. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, cooking and ballroom dancing. Her friends and family meant everything to her and she called her two grandsons her Angels. Antoinette was loved by all and voted Club Mom by members of the East Coast Camaro Club. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, November 23rd from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Monday, from the funeral home with a Celebration of Life Mass at 10:00 am in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street Shrewsbury. Entombment next to her husband will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Umass-Memorial Foundation Cancer Fund, South Street Shrewsbury or the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd, Waltham Mass.
