Joseph D. Marino, 65, of Worcester a dedicated family man and hard worker passed away Sunday, November 16th 2014 with his loving family gathered by his bedside after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. Joseph was born in Worcester, one of three children of Dominick and Mary (Tynan) Marino. He graduated from North High School, and then earned a plumbing degree from Boys Trade. Joseph then accepted a job as a plumber with R.G. Thrower Plumbing Inc. as head foreman and master plumber; He then went on to work for R.H. White Construction Company for 20 plus years as a Construction Supervisor, working his way up to a Construction Safety Officer, a position he still held. Joseph was an established plumbing professional holding a MA journeyman's plumbing license, a MA master's plumbing license, a master pipefitter's license, plumbing license's in CT and NH, and he was also an OSHA authorized instructor. He also held a part time job for 14 years at The Home Depot in the plumbing department. Joseph is survived by his devoted family; the love of his life and partner of 43 years, Barbara E. (Johnson) Marino; his three daughters, Tara A. Modig and her husband Raymond, Tina Marino, Toni Creegan and her husband Marc; three grandsons, Gavin, Dylan, and Kyle; a brother, James F. Marino and a sister, Ann E. Bettencourt; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Joe was a devoted family man who loved gardening, flea marketing, working and being with his wife, daughters and grandsons. Joe was a jolly man during the Christmas season playing the role of Santa. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, November 20th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Tucker Gosnell Center for Gastrointestinal Cancers.
