Gary A. Messenger, 74, of Worcester, formerly of Grafton, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, October 26, 2014. His loving wife, Carmella (Pellegrino) Messenger, predeceased him in November 2003. Gary is survived by his two loving sons, Gary Messenger of Worcester and Daniel Messenger of Millbury; two brothers, Greg Messenger of Warren, Ohio and Mark Messenger and his wife Jeanie of Leavittsburg, Ohio; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Pat Messenger. Gary was born in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Alten and Shirley (Wagner) Messenger. He served his nation proudly in the United States Navy, and met his wife, while stationed in this area; together they settled in Grafton, where they lived for many years. Gary worked as a toll collector for many years, on the Massachusetts Turnpike, retiring in 1998. He was also an antique dealer and operated Riverside Antiques in Grafton. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Parish. He enjoyed cars, old and new; and loved to go for a "Sunday Drive" with his family. He loved to be around his family and would look forward to spending good quality family time together. Calling Hours will be held on Monday morning, November 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; followed by a procession to church for an 11 a.m. Mass in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Parish, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
