George L. Delorto, 81 of Worcester, passed away peacefuly on Monday, October 27, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. George is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Barbara A. (Chauvin) Delorto; his son, Leo G. Delorto and his wife Veronica of Auburn; three daughters, Tina M. Delorto and her husband Frank Hope of Lynn, Maureen A. and Lisa M. Delorto both of Auburn; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. George was born in Worcester, the son of the late Leo and Alice (Bishop) Delorto. George grew up in Shrewsbury where he graduated from the former Major Beale High School, Class of 1952 and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He resided in Shrewsbury till 1982 later moving to Worcester where he has lived for the past 32 years. George proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. He worked as a truck driver for The Teamsters Local 170 for thirty two years retiring in 1988 and served on the executive board as recording secretary. He was a member of St. Anne's Church in Shrewsbury. Services for George will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester with his graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. A period of calling hours for George will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
