Eleanor "Aunt Lena" (Bizzarro) D'Elia, 104, of Worcester died peacefully Saturday October 18, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Anthony P. D'Elia, predeceased her in 1967. Lena is survived by her devoted family: a son Ralph A. D'Elia and his wife Cathy of Worcester, three daughters: Gloria A. D'Elia with whom she lived, Camille Soucy and her husband Robert, and Carleen Ford all of Worcester. She was the doting grandmother to eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, also many nephews and nieces. Lena was predeceased by a son-in-law, Anthony Ford, and five brothers: Gennaro, Antonio, Domenic, Carlo, and John Bizzarro as well as three sisters: Raffalena Nelson, Louise Delle Femine, and Regina Chesnulavitch. Lena was born in Waterbury, Ct. daughter of the late Antonio and Concetta (Clemente) Bizzarro. She moved to Worcester as a child and has lived here all her life. She attended Worcester Public Schools. Lena loved being a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed cooking and was always making food and feeding people long before there were food kitchens. She had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She loved to sing and dance and her home was always filled with laughter and fun. Lena was a dedicated and life member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann. She was a member of their Golden Years Club and received a citation for being one of their longtime members. Lena was a Volunteer for over 20 years at the Salvation Army and was always baking and helping out at their fund raisers. She loved her family and friends and a good day at the casino! However, being with her family were her most treasured times. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Lena's funeral will be held on Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Tuesday evening from 4PM to 7PM in the funeral home. Interment alongside her husband Anthony will be in St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Renovation Fund of Our Lady of Mt.
