Edward C. Kowalik, 83, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday October 15, 2014 in the St Francis Home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 53 years, Judith Ann (Mullen)Kowalik died in 2009.Edward is survived by his loving family; a son Christopher C. Kowalik of Worcester, two daughters Kathleen A. Kowalik of Worcester, and Kelly J. Solitro and her husband Mathew of Shrewsbury. Eddie is also the loving grandfather to Matthew and Allison Kowalik, and Dominic, Vincent, and Dante Solitro. He also leaves a sister, Irene Sade and her husband John of New Jersey, and several nephews and nieces. Edward was predeceased by a daughter Kim Kowalik- Murphy. Edward was born in Worcester son of the late Charles and Veronica (Wasala) Kowalik and lived in Worcester most of his life. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School, and also Worcester Junior College. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Edward was a Salesman for the Sears and Roebuck Company for many years before he retired. Eddie was a long time member of the Church of St. John. He enjoyed a good day at the Casino, and the lottery, but his most treasured times were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Francis Home for the kindness and compassion shown to their father during his stay there. Edward's funeral will be held Saturday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of St. John 40 Temple St. A Calling hour will be held from 8AM to 9:30AM Saturday morning prior to leaving for Church.
