Jane Vivian (Benoit) Lachance, 82 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Saint Vincent's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late Louis and Maryetta (Walls) Benoit. She attended Commerce High School and has lived in Worcester most of her life. Jane worked as a nurse's aide for many years for Belmont Nursing Home before her retirement in 1983. She previously worked for Lincoln Nursing Home. Jane was a former member of Notre Dame Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Jane enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jane's husband of sixty-five years, Joseph L. Lachance passed away on May 23, 2014. She is survived by her four children, Denis Lachance and his wife Carol of Wareham, Nancy Sposato and her husband Donald, Brenda Young and her husband Gary, Sheila Sposato and her husband John all of Worcester; a brother, Ronald Benoit of Florida; a sister Ruth Stone of Alabama; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. A son, Bruce Allen Lachance died at infancy. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family during calling hours Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 4 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, followed by a prayer service at 6 pm. Burial in the family lots in Southbridge will be private.
