Geraldine M. (Brooks) Melendez, 58, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at UMass Hospital; joining her sons, in heaven. Geraldine leaves three sons, Michael and Junito Melendez and Anthony Miranda; two daughters, Angela Rolon and Princess Melendez, all of Worcester; four brothers and three sisters, Ramon, Joey, David, Jimmy, Sue, Sandra, and Patty; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Reinaldo Melendez, Jr. in 1981 and John Melendez in 2011. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Reinaldo Melendez and two sisters, Darlene and June. Geraldine was born in Worcester, the daughter of Victoria (Magliaro) and Lawrence McArthur. Geraldine worked for many years as a manager for several clothing stores, including the Dress Barn and Rainbow, both in the former Worcester Common Fashion Outlets. Geraldine was a loving and caring woman who opened her heart and her home to many. Her heart of gold extended beyond her own children, to many others around her. She fostered many children, offered loving hugs or simply provided a warm meal or a warm bed. Her own children have said, "She was Mom to her children, but a Mother to many." Calling hours for Geraldine will be held on Monday, October 6, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; a Prayer Service will follow at 7 p.m.
