Harry J. Jones, 67 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Saint Vincent's Hospital surrounded by his devoted family. Harry is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-four years, Dorothy L. "Dot" (Lewis) Jones; seven children, Richard Glenn and his wife Tammy of Texas, Harry J. Jones, Jr. and his wife Christina of Virginia, Susan Jones of Orlando, Rachel Jones of Worcester, James E. Hargrove and his wife Claudia of Miami and Eric T. Jones of North Carolina, Craig Stagg of New York; two brothers, Curtis Jones and his wife Diana, and Herbert Jones and wife Louise; two sisters, Sylvia Minton and Sandra Fleuran all of Worcester; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Harry is predeceased by two brothers, Henry and Ulyses Jones. Harry was born in Suffolk, Virginia, a son of the late Herbert and Mary (Fuzz) Minton. He lived in Virginia till he moved to Worcester in 1966 where he graduated from Commerce High School. Harry received an associate's degree from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. Harry worked for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 96 for forty years before he retired in 2001. He was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church where he served the Lord as a deacon. He played a variety of sports and was an avid sports fan. Harry's funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in Emmanuel Baptist Church, 717 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 8-9 a.m. in Emmanuel Baptist Church prior to his funeral service.
