Carol L. (Lupisella) Woods, 62, of Charlton, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014, in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, after a valiant fight with cancer. She leaves her loving husband and best friend of twenty-seven years, David W. Woods; her mother, Eleanor I. (Mangiulli) Lupisella; two brothers, Joseph Lupisella and his wife Susan and Jeffrey Lupisella and his wife Phyllis, all of Worcester; a sister, Marie Albano and her husband Joseph of Newton; her father and mother in law, William and Marilyn Woods of Charlton; her beloved dog, Jackson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Carol was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Joseph S. Lupisella. She was also by predeceased by her brother Anthony Lupisella. She lived many years in Worcester, before settling in Charlton twenty-four years ago. Carol graduated from Saint Stephen's High School in Worcester and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Worcester State University. She later earned her Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Anna Maria College and then continued her education at Clark University where she earned her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Professional Communications. Carol had a long career, spanning over twenty years at Fallon Community Health Plan, leaving there as Director of Consumer Affairs. Following her successful time at Fallon, she left to pursue her true passion; the teaching and mentoring of students. She was most recently an Academic Advisor at Quinsigamond Community College, having previously worked at Nichols College in Dudley. Carol loved her family. She wanted to carry on the "Italian Traditions" of cooking and gathering with family. She enjoyed music, calligraphy, writing and reading poetry. She had an incredible spirit and found great joy in mentoring youths and bringing people together for events and reunions. Calling hours and Funeral Service for Carol will be held at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, on Thursday, September 18, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105 or the M.S.P.C.A, at www.mspca.org/donate.
