Congetta J. "Connie" (Zollo) Rano, 82, of South Dennis and Lighthouse Point Florida, formerly of Worcester passed away Sunday, September 7th 2014 on Cape Cod with her family gathered at her side after a brief period of declining health. Connie was born in Worcester, a daughter of Gaetano and Nicolina (Verde) Zollo. She grew up in Worcester and attended Commerce high school. On a summer trip to Nantasket Beach, Connie met and then married the man she would spend the next 63 years happily married to; Robert "Sonny" Rano, Sr. They then settled in the Lake Quinsigamond section of Worcester where they resided until retirement. Connie and Sonny then shared their days between South Dennis in the summer and Lighthouse Point, Florida in the winter. She is survived by her devoted husband, Sonny; the two children she loved so much; Sophie L. Cesnickas, and Robert F. "Bob" Rano Jr. and his wife Carol all of Worcester; four grandchildren, Jamie Doane and her husband William, Andrew Cesnickas and his wife Erin, Michael Rano and his wife Shanique and Peter Rano and his fiancé Meagan Fiske; five great grandchildren, William, Jackson, Isabella, Hannah and Delonte; a brother Robert Zollo; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends in Worcester, Cape Cod and Florida. A sister, Mary Rainville and two brothers, Joseph and Vincent Zollo pre deceased her. Nanna as she was affectionaly called, loved to cook and bake for her family. Her grand and great grandchildren were special and her life's inspiration. Having them all around her at family special moments and holidays were treasures to her. Connie was a member of the former St Margaret Mary Church, its women's guild and the Catholic Daughters of America. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Wednesday, September 10th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be celebrated Thursday, September 11th from the funeral home with a mass at 10:30 am in St Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in St John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St John's Church Food for the Poor, 44 Temple St Worcester.
