W.J. Jones, 90, of Worcester, MA, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2014. He will be missed by his daughters, Barbara White of Lancaster, TX, Parlee Lucia Jones-Thompson, Tracy Dankwah and Aretha Kharashqah, all of Worcester, and his son-in-law, Samuel Howard of Lancaster, TX; 6 grandchildren, Jahnoy, LaDorsche, Imnet, Sha-Asia, Born & Sumaiyyah. He also leaves behind his sister, Emma Horton; a brother, Thurman Jones & his wife Murlene, also of Texas. He was predeceased by his wife, Clementine (Luchessi) Jones; and by siblings Odines, Obie, Frankie Jo, Helen & Billie Mae. W.J. was born in Beckville, Texas on July 8, 1924, a son of the late Willis & Parlee (Mitchell) Jones. W.J. served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and fought in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He moved to Worcester in 1968 where he has lived ever since. He worked at Norton Company in Plant 8 for more than 19 years. He was a member of the J. Haynes Edmonds V.F.W. Post # 312 and was also a member of Quinsigamond Elks Lodge #173. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Friday, September 12, 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by his Funeral Service, all occurring in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME and CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA. 02472
