Carl A. Iaccarino, 86 of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Carl is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-eight years, Christine D. (Evangelista) Iaccarino; a son, Francis X. Iaccarino and his wife Ann of Shrewsbury; four daughters, Maria M. Iaccarino of Shrewsbury, Marguerite D. Lemire and her husband Ronald of Boylston, Carla A. Renzoni and her husband Rex of Shrewsbury and Christine Pacios and her husband Larry of Northborough; a sister, Rose Catuogno and her husband Phil of Maryland; a brother-in-law, John Evangelista of Worcester; fourteen grandchildren, Deanna Paglia, Khara Pittman and her husband Ronald, Marc Paglia, Jim Lemire and his wife Linda Berman, Jeff Lemire, Carl Lemire and his girlfriend Shannah Jaburek, Giustina and Bianca Renzoni, Hannah, Alexandra, Margaret and Sophia Iaccarino, Christopher and Patrick Pacios; two great grandchildren, Emma and Jack Lemire; his Godchild, Donna Rezuke of Shrewsbury; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Joseph Iaccarino and a sister, Michelina Fulginiti. Carl was born in Worcester, a son of the late Raffaele and Maria (Ricci) Iaccarino. He lived in Worcester for many years before moving to Shrewsbury where he has lived for the past fifty years. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Carl worked for his family's woodworking business all his life. In 1977, he established Iaccarino & Son, Inc. Architectural Woodworking and was president until 2012. He was a member of Saint Mary's Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus in Shrewsbury. Carl enjoyed spending summers on Cape Cod and vacationing to Captiva Island, FL. He was an avid reader, found great pleasure in listening to music, and loved playing bocce. He embraced his Italian heritage and traditions. Carl was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and his greatest enjoyment in life was being surrounded by his family. The Iaccarino family would like to thank Notre Dame Hospice especially Lisa for the outstanding care and compassion given to Carl during his time of illness. Service for Carl will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. A. period of visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4th from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
