Josephine "Jean" (Catino) Romano, of Holden passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the age of 71, surrounded by her loving family. Jean leaves behind her son, Donald A. Romano Jr. of Worcester; two daughters, Tina Coffey of Holden and Lisa Romano and her wife Krista of Worcester; four grandchildren, Donald and Kathleen Romano of Charlton and John and Anna Coffey of Holden; a brother, Maurice Catino of Sutton and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Joseph Catino and her sister-in-law Elizabeth Catino. Jean was born on July 11, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Alphonse and Anna (Gioia) Catino. She relocated to Shrewsbury, MA at an early age. She was a 1961 graduate of Shrewsbury High School. Jean worked for Spectrum Health Systems as a billing specialist for over 30 years and during that time made many friends whom she held dear. She was recently inducted into the Spectrum Health Systems Presidents Club. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her four grandchildren. She loved cooking and was always searching for and experimenting with new recipes. Jean was a kind, loving, selfless soul that will be greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched. Calling hours are from 4pm to 6pm, Sunday, August 17, 2014 at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Jean's Funeral Services will follow the calling hours at 6pm at the funeral home. A private burial service will be held in the Chapel of the Resurrection at St. John's Cemetery.
