Joseph George Husson, 56, of Worcester, passed away Sunday, July 27th, 2014. His two daughters, Dena Laudon and Samantha Husson, his son-in-law, William Laudon III (and his yet-to-be-born granddaughter, Danica) were with him at the bedside as he passed.
He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Husson; Sister, Andrea Silva of Shrewsbury and his brother, Steven Husson of Worcester. His sister, Michele Cristo of Worcester predeceased him.
Joe was born and raised in Worcester where he was well-known on Grafton Hill. Joe was a graduate of North High School, and the son of the late George Husson. George and Sylvia owned Husson’s Spa on Hamilton St. for many years. Joe was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral. If you knew Joe, you would know he was something else. Joe was smooth. He was so smooth that he could have sold ice to an Eskimo in an igloo, and it wouldn’t have surprised anyone. He knew just about every trick in the book, and could give you the winning lottery numbers from the prior 7 days, probably without blinking. In his heyday, he was the handsome, charismatic guy that all the girls dated at one point or another. He was the guy that everyone impatiently waited in line behind while he played his huge stack of daily numbers at the corner store. To his daughters, he was the ultimate comedian, the perfect omelet maker, the ATM, the pitching coach, the fishing partner, and although a little unorthodox, an effective driving instructor. He had a natural love for soulful music. Some of his favorites were Anita Baker, Toni Braxton, Bobby Brown, Bread, Demis Roussos, Jethro Tull, Harry Chapin, and even some Eminem. He loved watching UFC fights. He loved The Sopranos, Seinfeld, Curb your Enthusiasm and the Howard Stern Show. He was a New England sports fan and loved his trips to the casino on the Fung Wah bus. Joe just about did it all. He was good at sales, and had hobbies in fishing, bowling, golf, baseball, gambling and magic. He had quite a few trophies back in his day. Joe was awarded “Best Bartender on the East Coast” in the late 90’s. It was no secret that Joe suffered heavily with addiction and health issues for a large part of his life. Because of this, many might not have realized how much that sadly overshadowed all his talents and dreams. He deserves credit for the unconditional love he always gave his daughters. There was never any shortage of laughter with Joe (usually at each other’s expense)… and certainly no shortage of singing and dancing in the kitchen like a bunch of fools. Joe loved his mother and really loved to mess around to get a rise out of her. Joe had a funny nickname for literally everyone. He called his kids “dad”. His daughter Dena will always hold dear being dramatically danced around and serenaded to the Cinderella song “Ten Minutes Ago” through the house. His daughter Samantha will fondly remember all their lobster dates at Coral Seafood, and dad making fun of her, always saying, “Hey dad, you got 20?” He was the one that would say NO PETS, then always end up falling in love with them and caring for them himself. He would take the kids to Skylite Roller Skating rink and lead the whole floor, instructing everyone on how to do The Electric Slide. Joe always had a way of making made things fun and funny. In the words of Joe, “See Ya Later, Fellas…”
