Rose (Manzaro) Oliveri, a lifelong Worcester resident passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, June 18th 2014 surrounded by her devoted loving family. She was 82 years of age. Rose was born in Worcester; her parents were Italian immigrants Donato and Teresa Marie (Casamassa) Manzaro. She grew up in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School and then went on to receive a degree from Salter College in Administrative Assistant . In 1954, Rose married Nicholas "Nick" Oliveri, Jr. Together they began their life together, raised their family and lived in Worcester all their life. She is survived by the family she devoted her life to, Vincent Oliveri and his wife Donna, Robert Oliveri and his companion, Resa Doherty; her five grandchildren, Christina and her husband Kevin, Vincent Jr, Michelle, Lauren-Marie and Nicholas; her dog and best friend Tasia; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Five brothers, Ralph, Vito, Peter, Frank and Francesco Manzaro, and two sisters, Rosa Manzaro and Grace Lacava all pre deceased her. Rose was a dedicated member of the Worcester Sheriff's Department for 20 years and working 18 of those years as the Administrative Assistant to Deputy Superintendent William Frisch before retiring. She previously worked for Table Talk Pie Company as an Administrative Assistant over twenty five years. Rose was a member of St John's Church, and a former member of St Margaret Mary's Church. She was a member of the State, County and Municipal Employees Association. Rose was a traditional Italian mother; she cherished and dedicated her entire life to her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren always came first in her life; their wellbeing, happiness and life's achievements are what made her the proudest. Rose was awarded the Parent Military Honor Medal for her 31 years of unwavering support to her son during his many deployments and combat tours in Iraq. In 2009, she was presented a flag that was flown over Iraq in her honor. She was a fabulous cook and routinely would happily serve the many friend her sons brought home and family members that would stop by. No one left her home hungry. Rose's funeral will be held Monday, June 23rd 2014, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 am in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial next to husband and parents will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am Monday morning followed by a funeral procession to St John's Church.
