Pasquale "Patsy" J. Mazzamurro, 86, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 in Beaumont Nursing and Rehab of Worcester. Patsy is survived by his brother, Nicholas J. Mazzamurro and his wife Leona of Worcester; two sisters, Frances Simone and her husband Michael of Shrewsbury and Anna Saucier and her husband Bernard of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Monroe and Carmella Olivieri. Patsy was born in Worcester, son of the late, Nicola and Antonetta (Izzi) Mazzamurro, and has lived here all his life. He proudly served his nation in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict. Pat worked as a heavy equipment operator and laborer for several local construction companies. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church. He belonged to the Eastside Post 201 American Legion, the Italian American Veterans Post 3, the Eastside Improvement Club, and W.A. Porter Laborer's International Union Local 243. Patsy enjoyed being "Uncle Pat" to his nieces and nephews, and all their friends. He had a deep love and respect for God, family, and country. He was a quiet gentleman with deep faith, who asked for little, but would give everything he had to someone in need. He savored a good glass of home-made wine, shared with his brother and long time friends. He was a wonderful cook and liked to share, especially his pizzas and breads, with everyone, including his neighbors and friends at the Mount Carmel Apartments. A truly generous man, he supported more charities than could be counted. A heartfelt debt of gratitude to The VNA Care Network of Worcester, the entire staff on the 4th floor ofthe Beaumont of Worcester, it's therapy department, Donna in admissions, the Salmon Hospice Team and especially Michael LaBonte, who helped Pat and his family in many kind and compassionate ways, that went beyond the scope of his position. Thank-you, from the bottom of our hearts. Pat's request was to have his services held privately. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, June 10, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church. He was interred, with Military Honors, in the family lot at Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. Donations in his memory may be made to the Restoration Fund at Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
