Frances Walkowiak

Frances (Bodinizzo) Walkowiak, 83, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in Beaumont Nursing and Rehab of Worcester, surrounded by loving family members. Her husband, Joseph Walkowiak, pre-deceased her. Frances is survived by her dear sisters, Annette Pellegrino, with whom she lived, Theresa Parretti and her husband Robert; a brother, Joseph Bodinizzo and his wife Gloria; a niece, who was more like a daughter, Janice Hinson; two sisters in law, Theresa and Pasqua Bodinizzo, all of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by three brothers and a sister, Peter, Michael and John Bodinizzo, and Mary Tomasiello and her husband The Honorable Judge Anthony Tomasiello. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Pasquale and Nicoletta (Cappabianca) Bodinizzo. She grew up in Worcester and graduated from Girl's Trade; she and her husband later moved to Brewer, Maine in 1973, returning to Worcester in 2000. She worked for several years, as a cafeteria worker for the school department in Brewer, Maine. She had previously worked at Vellumoid Company in Worcester. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, and it's Golden Years Club. She enjoyed watching the Red Sox and New England Patriots. She loved her family and will always be remembered for her love and kindness. Frances' family would like to thank all of the exceptional people at Beaumont, specifically the staff on the fourth floor, because their kindness and compassion was truly heartwarming. Calling Hours for Frances will be held on Monday, June 9, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A Funeral Mass will then be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment will be in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester Donations in her memory may be made to the Restoration Fund at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or the Autism Resource Center, 71 Sterling Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
