James F. Pickett, 65 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2014 in UMass Hospital surrounded by his loving family. James is survived by his loving wife of forty four years, Donna M. (O'Connor) Pickett; his son, Christopher F. Pickett and his wife Erin of Holden; his daughter, Julie A. Camfield and her husband Matthew of Worcester; four cherished grandchildren, Anna and Matthew Camfield of Worcester and Olivia and Christopher Pickett of Holden; his best friend since childhood, Paul Torrey and his wife Debbie of Worcester; a large family of brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. James was born in Worcester, the son of the late Francis D. and Elvira J. (Moreschi) Pickett. He graduated from South High School, Class of 1966. He later graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Worcester State College. James entered the United States Air Force, serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War. After completing his service, James returned to finish his education, graduating with his Master's Degree in Business from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a computer engineer for CX Computer Exchange in Northborough for the past fifteen years. James was the general manager of West Boylston American Legion Baseball and also coached Tris Speaker Little League Baseball. He enjoyed traveling to Disney World and Cape Cod and enjoyed walks with his wife. James excelled in football, hockey and baseball in high school and college. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan. James' favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. James' funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Monday, June 9th from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
