Luxora (VanStory) Brown, 82, of Worcester, went home peacefully on Sunday morning, June 1, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-three years, James Brown and by two of her dear grandchildren, Calvin Bradshaw, Jr. and Sabree McClain. Luxora is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline A. Bradshaw, with whom she resided, Tracie Randolph and her husband Henry; three sons, George E. Brown and his wife Norma Jean, Gregory L. Brown, whose wife Thiala, passed away in February, and James B. Brown and his wife Babette, all of Worcester. She is also survived by her life-long friend and loving cousin, Clara M. Allen of Worcester; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. Luxora was born in Brown Summit, North Carolina, the last surviving of five children born to the late, Maxwell and Elizabeth (Pennix) VanStory. She was a devoted member of Mount Sinai Church of God in Christ. She dedicated her life to caring not only for her family, but her community as well. She was fondly known as "Ms. B", the community babysitter. Calling hours for Luxora will be held on Thursday, June 5, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 6, at 10 a.m. in Mount Sinai Church of God in Christ, 63 Wellington Street, Worcester. Interment beside her husband will follow at 2 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.
