Josephine M. (Cogoli) Rossi, 97 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at UMass Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Josephine's husband of fifty-eight years, Pasquale J. "Patsy" Rossi passed away on November 24, 1997. She is survived by two sons, James V. Rossi and his wife Fay of Plymouth and Patrick J. Rossi and his wife Patricia of Spencer; two daughters, Marie C. Steele and her husband Thomas of Sutton and Diana M. Smith and her husband James of East Northport, Long Island; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by six brothers, John, Louis, Anthony, Daniel, Frederick and William Cogoli; a sister, Rita Devine. Josephine was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Giovani B. and Mary (Zuppo) Cogoli and has lived here all her life. Josephine took care of her family and volunteered for the RSVP Volunteers and was involved in the Worcester Senior Center. Josephine was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. Josephine's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her caregiver's, Van and Monica for the exceptional and loving care that they provided their mother. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 9-10 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester followed by her funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Worcester. Entombment beside her husband will follow at Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.
