John A. Anderson, 91, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Leicester died after a brief illness on May 22, 2014 in Blake Medical Center, Bradenton. His beloved wife of 55 years, Lorraine R. (Perron) passed away August 23, 2004. John was born on November 3, 1922 in Worcester, Massachusetts and was preceded in death by his father, A. John Anderson and his mother, Irene J. (Wickstrom) Anderson. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. After high school he served his country honorably during the Second World War in the United States Army. He is survived by his daughter, Carol A. Harris; his two sisters-in-law, Claire Stines of Florida and Frances Gibree and her husband Robert of Florida. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his two sisters, Edith Mickelson and Anna Johnson. John began his career as a tool die maker for the Erickson & Hedlund Tool Die Company, where he worked for over twenty years. He later worked for the Norton Company and retired from the Warner & Swasey Company. He was a life member of the Greendale Retired Men's Club and played in its golf league. He was an avid bowler and he enjoyed ice fishing and casting a few lines at Burncoat Pond in Leicester. Relatives and friends will gather for calling hours on Thursday, May 29th, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His funeral will be held on Friday, May 30th from the funeral home, then departing in procession at 9:40 a.m. for a funeral service to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester. Burial will follow to Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, where military honors will be rendered.
