Margarita "Margie" R. Savasta, 86, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in Knollwood Nursing Center, surrounded by loving family. Margie is survived by her brother, Michael R. Savasta and his wife Barbara of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Francis R. Savasta. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Roger and Mary (LaTorre) Savasta and has lived here all her life. Margarita worked for over thirty years, as a Paralegal at the former State Mutual Insurance Company. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed travelling here in the United States as well as around the world. She enjoyed painting portraits and landscapes as well as refinishing furniture. She truly loved being with her family and found great joy in helping to raise here many nieces and nephews, whom she though of as her own children. Margie's family would like to extend a warm, heartfelt "thank you" to all of the caring nurses, aides, doctors and staff at Knollwood Nursing Center and the caring people at Hospice. Their care and compassion toward Margie and her family, will long be remembered. Calling hours for Margie will be on Saturday morning, May24, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester.
