Joseph E. Murphy,64, of Mashpee, formerly of Worcester died peacefully Thursday May 15, 2014 in the Cape Cod Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years Linda A. (McGuirk) Murphy, two sons, Glenn J. Murphy and his wife Victoria of Townsend, and Joseph T. Murphy and his wife Courtney of Centerville. He also leaves a brother Edward Murphy and his wife Lilly of Jefferson, and two sisters Barbara Cecil of Worcester and Patti Murphy-Brown and her spouse Loren of Rutland. Joe was the proud grandfather to Colby, Trinity, Tierney, and Brunner. Joe also leaves many nephews and nieces. Joe was born in Clinton son of the late Jeremiah and Victoria (Ganczarski) Murphy and lived in Worcester most of his life before moving to Mashpee four years ago. He was a graduate of Doherty Memorial High School, and attended Quinsigamond Community College. He served in the United States Marine Reserves. Joe worked in sales for Siemens for 32 years before he retired due to his illness. He was a long time member of Tatnuck and Mt Pleasant Country Clubs while living in Worcester. He was most recently a member of Pocasset Country Club. Joe loved to play golf, enjoyed the beach, boating, and good times with friends. However, his most treasured times were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Joe's funeral will be held on Tuesday with a mass of Christian burial at 11:00am at the Church of St. John , 44 Temple St. Relatives and friends are asked to go directly to church please.
