Nicodemus F. Omilanowicz, 98, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014, in Saint Mary Health Care Center. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Dora A. (DiFilippo) Omilanowicz; two children, a son, N. Francis James of Adelphi, Maryland and a daughter, Dorothy A. Omilanowicz and her life partner Sherrie L. Stevens of Barre, Massachusetts. He is also survived by two brothers, Peter Omilanowicz of Mattapoisett, MA and Stanley T. Omilanowicz and his wife Virginia of Worcester, MA; a sister, Sr. Mariella of The Holy Family of Nazareth in Monroe, Connecticut; two granddaughters, Jordan H. and Ryley A. Newcomb of Barre, Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Wysmulec and Sr. Gemma. Nicodemus was born on June 22, 1915, the son of Stanley L. and Agnes Omilanowicz, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He attended Boys Trade School and has lived here all his life. Nicodemus worked for Norton Company, now Saint Gobain, for many years until retirement. He was a devoted and active member of the former Our Lady of Fatima Parish and Boy Scout Troop 85. Some of Nicodemus' favorite hobbies were swimming, walking, gardening, wood-working; and after retirement he developed a passion for cooking and baking. Nicodemus' family would like to thank the Nursing Staff and Caregivers at Saint Mary Health Care Center, for their wonderful care, compassion and support during the last four years. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday morning, May 15, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m., all occurring in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
