Peter P. Paldino, 88, of Worcester died unexpectedly on Friday May 2, 2014 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. Peter is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Caroline "Carrie' (Caputo) Paldino, his four sons ; Patrick J. Paldino and his wife Shirley of Montgomery Center, VT., Peter A. Paldino and his wife Paula of Worcester, Paul R. Paldino and his wife Lisa of Worcester, and David M.Paldino and his wife Lorie of Overland, Kansas. Peter was also the proud grandfather to Patrick, Peter, Paul, Nicholas, Joseph, Christina,Melissa, Michael, Britta, Krissy, Tara, Luke, Kurt, and Mario, and 8 great grandchildren. Peter is also survived by two brothers, Anthony Paldino and his wife Vincenza, Donald Paldino and his wife Rose, four sisters; Louise Riopel, Dorothy Lizotte, and her husband Roger, Bernadette Genatossio and her husband Carlo, Carol Ann Tessier and her husband Michael, a sister in law Carmella Paldino, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother Samuel Paldino. Peter was born in Worcester son of the late Pasquale and Mary (Generelli) Paldino and lived here all his life. He attended Adam Street Elementary School and North High School. Peter was a proud veteran who served his country during WW11 as a Sargent in the United States Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served in Central Europe. Among his commendations, Peter received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Upon returning home he became a co-owner with his Brother Samuel who founded the Paldino Brothers Company Inc. and continued to work there for over 50 years. Peter was a life member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, The Worcester Lodge of Elks, The East Side Post #201 American Legion,The Purple Heart Association, and the Battle of the Bulge Association. Peter enjoyed doing carpentry. He and Carrie loved wintering at Light House Point in Florida for many years. However his most treasured times were those spent with his family. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caretaker Lydia Yawson for her kindness and care shown to Peter. Peter's funeral will be held Thursday May 8, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday. Interment with Military Honors will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
