Natale A. Losapio

August 6, 1926 — April 12, 2014

Natale A. Losapio, 87, of Worcester passed away peacefully, Saturday April 12th 2014 with his devoted family gathered by his bedside. Natale was born in Worcester, the son of Italian immigrants Pantaleo "Leo" and Josephine (Rano) Losapio. He grew up on Prentice Street, graduated from North High School; and then joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving honorably in the South Pacific, taking part in such conflicts as the Philippine Island liberation. In 1958, Natale married Virginia F. Sisti, who became his beloved wife for the next 56 years. Together they settled in Worcester and have lived here ever since. Natale worked over 27 years for the City of Worcester, Worcester Housing Authority retiring as Public Housing Manager in 1990. He previously worked for the Telegram and Gazette as Greendale Branch Distributor. Nat is survived by his wife Virginia; son, Anthony J. Losapio and his wife Mary P. Moran Losapio; sister, Mary Ann Aslanian and her husband Seth; Many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Natale was a member of St Joan of Arc Church, the Worcester Lodge 168, Order Sons of Italy in America and its Bocce League, the retired state, county and municipal employees association, the Greendale retired men's club, and the Shrewsbury Adelphi Council Knights of Columbus. Nat loved the beach, and when able, golfing, gardening and dancing with Virginia. He was a big Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Most of all, he was happiest with his family, whom he loved and by whom he was beloved. His gentle humor and calm presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him well. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours from 9:00 am to 10:30 am Wednesday, April 16th in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., followed by a procession to St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St., where his Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial with military honors will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. The family wishes to thank all the fabulous nurses and other wonderful caregivers, especially at Notre Dame Hospice and Ichabod Washburn House, who helped make him as comfortable and peaceful as possible. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Ichabod Washburn House, 1183 Main St. Worcester.
