Virginia C. (Cenik) Giordano, of Worcester passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, April 12 th 2014, surrounded by loving family after a brief illness. She was 91 years of age. Virginia was born in Worcester, one of four children of Lithuanian immigrants John and Mary (Varnagaris) Cenik. She graduated from Commerce High school, met and married her husband of 70 years John J. Giordano, Jr. Together they settled in the Grafton Hill Neighborhood of Worcester to raise their family and have lived there ever since. Virginia's husband John passed away in March of 2012. She is survived by her two devoted children; John J. Giordano, III and his wife Sandra, Patricia M. Spillane and her husband James all of Worcester; a brother, Edward Cenik of Northboro; three grandchildren, Gina M. Krajca and her husband Michael of Cape Coral, FL, Dr. John J. Giordano IV and his wife Kim of Holden and James J. Spillane of Chicago, IL; two great grandchildren, Mia Francesca and Troy Michael; many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A brother, Alfred and sister, Shirley pre deceased her. Virginia worked many years for the City of Worcester, School Department, as Cafeteria Manager at several schools around the city including South High and retiring from Worcester East Middle. She was a lifetime member of S. Casmir's Church. Virginia enjoyed bingo and cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother; she loved to bake, cook and have her whole family around her during the holidays and special family moments. Her grandchildren were very special and her life's inspiration. The family would like to thank the staff of Christopher House of Worcester for the wonderful care Virginia received. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Tuesday, April 15 th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 16 th from the funeral home with a procession to St. John's Church, 44 Temple she where her Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street Worcester 01608.
