Robert Bob Maesto Sr

Robert J. "Bob" Maesto, Sr. formerly of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully at home Thursday, April 10th 2014 with his family gathered by his side after a period of declining health. He was 82, years old. Robert was born in Worcester, one of four sons of Joseph and Loretta (Berthiaume) Maesto, he graduated from Commerce High School, joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean War serving honorably aboard the battleship USS Mississippi. Upon his return from the service, Bob, accepted a position with the Wright Line Company in Worcester and married his sweetheart Katherine B. Kvalita. The settled in Shrewsbury to raise their family and lived there for over 46 years before moving in with his son Robert and daughter-in-law Penny in Millbury. After several years with Wright Line, Bob changed positions accepting a job with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for many years before retiring. Robert's wife, Katherine "The love of is life" passed away in 1988 after 33 love filled years. He later married for a time Lorraine Chamberlin. He is survived by his three children, Robert J. Maesto, Jr. and his wife Penny with whom he lived, Vincent A. Maesto and his wife Cynthia Hennessey of Brunswick Maine, Cheryl K. Watson and her husband Chris of Shrewsbury; a brother, Ronald Maesto in Florida; nine grandchildren; two great granddaughters; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. His daughter, Carolyn A. Breau as well as two brothers, Ralph and Raymond Maesto pre deceased him. Bob was a member of St. Anne's Church. He enjoyed music, playing the Harmonica and singing. He was an enthusiastic New England Sports fan of the Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Monday, April 14th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 15th from the funeral home with a procession to St Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd where his Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial with Naval Honors will follow in Mt View Cemetery.
