Louis P. Lyons, Jr., 83, of Boylston, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, surrounded by his loving family. Louis is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-two years, Mary J. (Sargent) Lyons; two daughters, Marcia Bollus and her husband Joseph of Worcester and Karen Donoghue and her husband Robert of Boylston; two sons, Philip L. Lyons and his wife Kathy of Brentwood, NH and Michael A. Lyons and Pam Kenney-Lyons of Shrewsbury; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Lyons. Louis was born in Worcester, son of the late Louis P. and Grace (Wilhelmi) Lyons. He grew up in Worcester and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade, later serving in the National Guard. He moved to Boylston in 1960, where he and his beloved Mary, raised their family. He worked as a machinist for many years at Jamesbury Corporation before retiring in 1991, having previously worked at Heald Machine as a field service rep. He was a member of Saint Mary of The Hills Church, where he not only prayed, but was a constant help to the Pastor and members of the parish. He was mechanically inclined and was a tinkerer...if it wasn't broken it would be and then he'd fix it. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and was a great fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. Calling Hours for Louis will be on Tuesday, March 25, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADATNE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be on Wednesday, March 26, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary of The Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston, MA.
