Rosalia (Ariosto) Toscano

August 25, 1916 — March 18, 2014

Rosalia (Ariosto) Toscano, 97 of Worcester died peacefully Tuesday March 18, 2014 in the St Francis Home with her family around her. Her husband Michaelangelo Toscano died in 2000. Rosalia is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Frances Kirwin and her husband Michael of Worcester, her loving sons; Domenico and his wife Giuseppina, Alfredo and his wife Beverly,and Mario and his wife Donna all of Worcester. Rosalia also leaves a daughter in law Bomina Toscano in Italy, and was the doting grandmother to twenty one grandchildren, and thirty great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son Antonio Toscano, a brother Eugenio, and a sister Maria. Rosalia was born in San Giacomo Acri, Provencia di Cosenza Italy daughter of the late Alfredo Ludoveco Ariosto and Bomina (Fuscalda) Ariosto and came to the United States in 1966. She was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of Loreto. Rosalia loved being the typical Italian Mother Homemaker, she loved to cook, garden and crochete. But her most treasured times were those spent with her famiglia, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the Matriach of the family and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, CNA s and the entire staff of the St. Francis Home for their excellent care and compassion shown to Rosalia and her family. It will always be appreciated. Rosalia's funeral will be held Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00Am in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto 37 Massasoit Rd. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Sunday from 3:00PM to 6:00PM in the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at St. Johns Cemetery with her husband. Contributions may be made to the St. Francis Home Patient Activity Fund 100 Plantation St. Worcester, Ma. 01604.
